Q: How do I become a member?
A: You can join our club by clicking the ‘join Northside’ button on the header, or follow this link: http://northsidebarbell.nl/join/ You can fill in your contact information at the bottom of the page. Afterwards, you will get an e-mail from us where we confirm that you have become a member. In this e-mail you get some information about becoming a member. Your registration is complete when you have paid the contribution.
Q: How much does the membership cost?
A: The contribution is €50,- per half year. The contributions are collected in September and in February.
Q: Do I need an ACLO card to become a member of Northside Barbell?
A: Yes, Northside Barbell is a student-sport-association under the ACLO. Therefore you need to have an ACLO card, which is €60 per year. You can get an ACLO card at the ACLO site (www.aclosport.nl) or at the desk in the Sports Centre.
Q: Do I need a fitness card to become a member of Northside Barbell?
A: No, you do not need a fitness card. The fitness card grants you unlimited acces to the fitness facility at the Sports Center (Zernike). When you choose not to buy a fitness card you can still join our club trainings. However, you are not allowed to enter the fitness facility outside our club hours. The fitness card does not grant you acces to the new Powerstation.
Q: What is the Powerstation?
A: The Powerstation is the new fitness facility of the Sports Center near the Central Station and also Northside’s home base. The powerstation has been opened in September 2015. This location is the strength training location of Groningen and is designed for the people who like to train with free weights. You need the Powerstation-card to get acces to the Powerstation. For non Northside members, the Powerstation’s opening hours are 09:00h-12:00 and 16:00h-19:00h, from Monday till Friday. It is closed in the weekend. Northside Members are besides these regular hours also allowed to train during the ‘Northside-hours’ from 19:00h-22:00h from Monday till Friday, from 09:00h-13:00h on Saterday and from 11:00h-13:00h on Sunday.
Q: What do I need to train in the Powerstation?
A: You need to buy a Powerstation-card or be a member of Northside Barbell. The Powerstation-card is NOT compulsory for Northside members. However, if you choose not to buy a Powerstation-card, you can ONLY train in Northside-hours. You can get the Powerstation-card at the desk of the ACLO Station. The costs for the Powerstation-card is €65 per year . You don’t have to do an intake or a fitness-course, which you need for the regular fitness card. At the desk, you will get the card and are asked to workout in the gym. There will be a “Supervisor” in the gym who will give you a guide, and after your workout you can get the Powerstation-card, which grants you acces to the Powerstation AND the fitness facility at the Sports Center.
Q: When are Northside’s coaching sessions?
A: Northside Barbell offers five coaching sessions per week, these are supervised by coaches. The Powerlifting coaching will be on; Tuesday and Thursday from 20:00h-22:00h and on Saturday from 09:00h-11:00h. The session on Saterday is intended for the members of the Competition team. On Monday and Thursday from 20:00h-22:00h there will be Olympic Weightlifting coaching. During all these sessions the participants will have priority using the gym equipment, yet members not joining the sessions are still allowed to train. The remaining Northside-hours are free for members to train in, yet these hours are not supervised by coaches.

Q: Can I have an introduction training before joining Northside Barbell?
A: Of course! Mail us (email@example.com) and we will plan a training.
Q: Do you also offer a course to try training with free weights?
A: Yes, you can find us at the ACLO website: http://www.aclosport.nl/sport/krachtsport/. You can find us on the roster of the ACLO courses and enroll yourself on the ACLO website. During this course you will learn the basic strength movements (Squat, Bench, Deadlift) and get some insights of our club. If you (for some reason) hesitate to join our club then this course is a recommendation!
